The "Winter
Nationals" at Las Vegas - 2010 |
The "Winter Nationals" which have
been held at
Buffalo Bill's/Stateline for several years moved
this year to downtown Vegas at The Orleans hotel.
They had 219 entries and expect more next year.
|
Its a whole new skyline without a roller coaster
and the VEGAS STRIP is only a few blocks away.
The temperature was in the mid 60's making it the warmest "Vegas
Race" ever.
|
Old friends made the trip from LA just to
watch the kids race. Kim Arringdale and
DeeDee Duncan both raced at Firestone.
|
Ken Rice came over to shake Tony's hand.
He's been to all the Vegas races and there has
been a lot of them - starting at the Hacienda.
|
TThere were a lot of shows in the hotel and in
the Arena out back. They had rodeo events
and a concert while we were there. Lots of people.
|
TThe track tower is in a trailer which is towed
over.
The blue plastic walls are rented from a Go-Kart
track and also hauled over in a trailer.
|
There was an orange plastic fence which the
handlers stood behind during the race.
|
The flagman "Tim Boznich" also had a
high orange fence which was a target for a lot
of race drivers during the races. The drivers
would hit the blue fence and send the orange
one flying. It hit Tim one time.
